課程目標
This course introduces fundamental concepts and techniques for representation, processing, and communication of video signals. We will also discuss the principles of real-world video communication systems and coding standards including MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, and AVS. Topics to be covered include introduction to video systems, Fourier analysis of video signals, properties of the human visual system, motion estimation, basic video compression techniques, video communication standards, advanced video coding techniques, stereo video processing, 3-D imaging, and applications of digital video signal processing such as digital video camera, digital TV, IP-based TV, and P2P video communications. A term-project is required.

Note: Although the official language for this lecture is Chinese, it can be switched to English if preferred by the class.

Basic programming skill in C, C++, or Matlab
